Itinerary
- You will be warmly greeted at the Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) by your Nanda Tours driver-guide.
- We’ll take a short drive to the Pinnawala area (approx. 2-2.5-hour drive) and check into your hotel.
- In the evening, you can relax and prepare for the exciting day ahead.
- Overnight: Pinnawala/Kegalle.
- After breakfast, we’ll visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. The best time to see the elephants is during the 9:15 AM feeding and their 10:00 AM bath in the river. It’s a heartwarming and unforgettable sight.
- Afterwards, we’ll continue our journey to the last royal capital, Kandy (approx. 2.5-3-hour drive).
- In the evening, you’ll be treated to a vibrant Kandyan cultural dance show, a spectacular display of traditional music and fiery acrobatics that will mesmerize the kids.
- Overnight: Kandy.
- After breakfast, we’ll take a gentle walk around the beautiful Kandy Lake and visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. (Our guide will keep the visit engaging and brief for younger attention spans).
- We’ll then ascend into the cool highlands to Nuwara Eliya (approx. 3-hour drive). We’ll stop at a tea factory for a simple tour to see how tea is made, and kids will love the views.
- In the evening, enjoy a relaxing boat ride on Gregory Lake.
- Overnight: Nuwara Eliya.
- Enjoy a cool morning in Nuwara Eliya. After breakfast, we’ll begin our scenic descent to the south coast (approx. 5-6 hour drive).
- We’ll stop for lunch at a family-friendly restaurant on the way.
- Arrive in Bentota in the afternoon and check into your beachside hotel. The rest of the day is for the kids to run around on the sand and take their first dip in the Indian Ocean.
- Overnight: Bentota.
- Today is a real adventure! We’ll head to the nearby Madu Ganga River for a fantastic boat safari.
- This journey through a complex of mangroves and small islands is like a real-life jungle cruise. You’ll visit a cinnamon island, see a traditional fish farm, and everyone can try a funny fish foot massage!
- The afternoon is for more beach fun and relaxation at the hotel.
- Overnight: Bentota.
- Today is all about family time and flexibility. There are no planned activities, giving you the freedom to do as much or as little as you wish.
- You can build sandcastles, swim in the hotel pool, try some optional water sports suitable for kids (like banana boat rides), or simply relax under a palm tree with a good book.
- Overnight: Bentota.
- After breakfast, we’ll take a short trip to the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery. Here, the kids can learn about sea turtle conservation and see baby turtles before they are released into the sea. It’s a wonderful and educational experience.
- Return to Bentota for a final afternoon of beach fun and swimming.
- Overnight: Bentota.
- Enjoy a final leisurely Sri Lankan breakfast and one last morning at the beach.
- At the appropriate time, your driver-guide will transfer you to the Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) for your departure flight (approx. 2.5-3 hour drive), filled with incredible family memories.

- Is the pacing of the tour suitable for small children? Absolutely! We have designed the itinerary with families in mind. Driving times are manageable, and we’ve built in plenty of downtime for relaxation and spontaneous fun.
- Are car seats available? Yes, we can arrange for baby or booster seats to be fitted in our vehicles. Please request this at the time of booking to ensure availability.
- What are the hotel arrangements for families? We select hotels that are welcoming to families. We can arrange interconnecting rooms, family suites, or an extra bed in the room, depending on your family’s needs and the hotel’s availability.
- Are the activities safe for children? Yes, all included activities are family-friendly and operated by reputable, safety-conscious providers. Your guide will always be there to assist.
